Agartala, June 16: The Indian Youth Congress Tripura state committee on Monday organized a protest rally and demonstration in Agartala, raising five key demands. The rally began from Congress Bhavan and marched through various parts of the city towards the Chief Minister\u2019s official residence.As the procession attempted to move forward after crossing the first barricade, police stopped the protesters near the residence of former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman. To control the situation, police reportedly used water cannons and later resorted to a baton charge. Four to five Youth Congress activists were injured in the incident.The five demands highlighted by the Youth Congress included:A fair and impartial investigation into the NEET question paper leak case.Control of rising prices of CNG, PNG, LPG, petrol, and diesel.Measures to curb the soaring prices of essential commodities.Addressing unemployment and creating more employment opportunities.Effective action to prevent the spread of drug abuse in the state.<\/p>\n
Reacting strongly to the police action, Youth Congress State President Neel Kamal Saha alleged that excessive force had been used to suppress a peaceful democratic protest. He asserted that such actions would not deter the Youth Congress from continuing its movement.Meanwhile, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Ashish Kumar Saha condemned the incident, claiming that the police action was aimed at silencing opposition voices. He demanded proper medical treatment for the injured activists and called for an impartial inquiry into the episode.The incident has sparked considerable political debate across the state.
