Agartala, June 16: The Democratic Women\u2019s Association submitted a memorandum to the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, raising several public interest-related issues. Later, the organization staged a two-hour sit-in demonstration at Paradise Chowmuhani in Agartala.<\/p>\n
During the protest, the organization\u2019s leaders placed three major demands before the authorities. These included measures to control the rising prices of essential commodities such as petrol, diesel, cooking gas, and other daily necessities; withdrawal of steps that have led to children being removed from Anganwadi centres and have reduced employment opportunities for Anganwadi workers and helpers; and the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the murder of Manisha Das, an employee of Shantiniketan Medical College.<\/p>\n
Addressing the media after the programme, leaders of the Democratic Women\u2019s Association stated that the investigation into the murder of Manisha Das should be conducted under the supervision of a sitting judge to ensure a fair, transparent, and impartial probe. They demanded a comprehensive investigation into the incident and strict action against all those found guilty.<\/p>\n
