Agartala, June 23: A colourful rally was organised in Agartala on Monday by the Tripura Olympic Association to celebrate Olympic Day. The rally was flagged off by the Chief Monister Manik Saha in front of the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan.<\/p>\n
Among those who participated were Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, office-bearers of the Tripura Olympic Association, athletes, and sports enthusiasts from various sporting organisations.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Manik Saha said that in the past, athletes from other states were allegedly allowed to participate in competitions under the banner of the state Olympic association. He asserted that such irregularities would no longer be tolerated and emphasized that only genuine and deserving athletes from Tripura are now being given opportunities to represent the state in national and international competitions.<\/p>\n
The rally began from Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan and passed through several important roads of the city before returning to the starting point. According to the organisers, the event was aimed at spreading the ideals of the Olympic movement, promoting sportsmanship, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among the public.<\/p>\n
