Many of the youth from the caste sections of the state have cultural talents. A suitable platform is needed to develop talent. Tripura Film and Television Institute will play a significant role in developing their cultural talents. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the Tripura Film and Television Institute at Nazrul Kalakshetra this evening. This is the first film institute in the state in collaboration with the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of Kolkata. Deputy Chief Minister Yishnu Debbarma, Information and Culture Minister Sushant Chowdhury, Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Bangladeshi famous actor Firdous Ahmed and SRFTI, Kolkata Director Himanshu Shekhar Kathua were present as guests of honour. This institute has 4 courses namely Screen Acting, Film Appreciation, Production Management and News Reporting, Anchoring, News Room Automation. 47 students have been admitted in this institute this year.<\/div>\n

Inaugurating the Film and Television Institute, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said, We never thought that a film institute would be established in our state. It has become a reality with the efforts of the state government. He also highlighted the famous music artist, composer Sachin Debbarman and Rahul Debbarman in the discussion. The Chief Minister said that music, music, cultural thoughts are hidden in every human being. He has to evolve. Full development of talent is not possible without proper infrastructure. He said that the success of this institute will depend on the students, so the teachers will also play an important role in it. The chief minister expressed hope that the institute would gain fame in the future.<\/div>\n

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debvbarma, guest of honor on the occasion, said that there is no shortage of talent in various fields in the state of Tripura. But just as the value of a diamond can be understood when it is given more form, so also for talent, training and practice are required. Only then its value increases. Terming today’s day as historic, he said, Tripura has a long relationship with the film world and Bollywood because of SD Barmans. Now the establishment of Tripura Film and Television Institute will fill the shortfall in utilization of film talent. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s culture-minded thinking, he said, “Every state has its own culture, and film is a powerful medium to showcase this culture.” He hoped that this new institution would one day emerge as a reputed institution in Tripura. Because Tripura has its roots in cultural development, its people have a rich heritage of mixed culture. One day Tripura will also make a big name in the film world due to the establishment of TFTI. He wished success to the students admitted to TFTI and thanked everyone involved in this initiative.<\/div>\n

Honorable guest on the occasion Information and Culture Minister Sushant Chowdhury highlighted the context of building this institute. He said, our state has a rich culture. The natural beauty of this state is unmatched. Through this film institute, the natural beauty and rich culture of the state will be showcased more. This film institute will also play an important role in improving the socio-economic status of the youth of the state. Through this film institute, the youth of the state will be able to showcase their talent to the people of the country. He expressed hope that this institute will move ahead smoothly. Mayor of AMC Dipak Majumdar said today is a historic day for the people of the state. The long-standing expectations of those associated with art culture have been fulfilled today. He expressed hope that various cultural personalities of the state will be able to showcase their talents. Himanshu Shekhar Kathua, director of SRFTI, Kolkata, said the Tripura government has a far-reaching vision regarding films. TFTI is just a start towards that goal. Kolkata-based SRFTI has already gained a reputation in the film world and is conducting various courses with success. Tripura also needed such an institution to train the talented children of this state rich in natural beauty and cultural talent. He said that classes will start here in the first week of December. SRFT has therefore designed short courses. There are also plans to introduce longer duration courses like diplomas and even post-graduate courses in the future. Famous Bangladeshi actor Firdous Ahmed said that Tripura and Bangladesh have a long-standing close relationship. Referring to that, he thanked the Tripura government for witnessing this historic moment today. He also said that Tripura and Bangladesh will organize a joint film festival soon. Moreover, in the future, the children of Bangladesh will also come here to get an opportunity to study film. In the end, he said, he will help as much as possible in the development of TFTI in the future whenever it is needed.<\/div>\n

A documentary on the formation of Tripura Film and Television Institute was shown at the beginning of the programme. Information and Culture Minister Sushant Chowdhury and Secretary PK Chakraborty presented mementos to the guests. 4 short term courses will be started now in this institute. 90 percent of the cost of tuition will be borne by the state government. Ten percent of the money should be paid by the students.
