This picture came out after the withdrawal of nomination papers was over. Today was the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers. A total of 32 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers. The Chief Election Officer of the state Kiran Gitye gave this information in a press conference organized at the conference hall of the District Magistrate of West District this evening. He said that till January 30, 310 candidates had submitted their nomination papers. Nomination papers of 19 people were canceled during the examination. 291 candidates remained in the contest. Out of this, 259 candidates are in the final contest as 32 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers. The Chief Election Officer said that 297 candidates were contesting in the 2018 assembly elections. Among the 259 candidates who are contesting in this election are 55 from Bharatiya Janata Party, 28 from All India Trinamul Congress, 43 from CPI(M), 1 from CPI, 13 from Indian National Congress, 6 from Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura, 42 from Tipramatha Party, CPI( ML) L-1, AIFB 1, TPP 2, TSP 1, RSP 1, other unrecognized parties have 7 candidates. Besides, there are 58 independent candidates. 10 assembly constituencies have maximum number of candidates with 6 candidates each. These are A-Bamutia, 6-Agartala, 8-Town Baradowali, 23-Dhanpur, 42-Amarpur, 46-Surma (SC), 47-Ambasa (ST), 49-Chamanu (ST), 56-Dharmannagar and 60- Kanchanpur. (ST). Direct competition is in 3 assembly constituencies. These are 4-Barjala (SC), 40 Sarum, 57-Yuvrajnagar. The Chief Election Officer said that the work of printing the ballot paper is starting from today. Voting in postal buckets will start from February 8. The voting process for those above 80 and the elderly who have applied to vote at home will also start from February 8. He said that due to the increase in the number of voters, the number of polling stations in the state has increased by 9.
