Food Minister Sushant Chowdhury said this at a review meeting of the Department of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs today. Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary of the Department of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs, Director Nirmul Adhikari, Deputy Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Sub-Divisional Food Controllers, Chief Food Inspectors, Food Inspectors and DCMs were present in this review meeting of the Department of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs at Gorkha Basti Bhaban. .<\/div>\n

In the review meeting, Food Minister Sushant Chowdhury said that this department is a very important department. The department has to ensure that the consumers of the state do not face any problem in the public distribution system. He said that the government is also thinking of supplying mustard oil through ration shops. The government wants to bring good governance to every home. For this, it must be ensured that there is no weakness in the public distribution system. In the review meeting, the food minister said that a seminar will be organized at the state level in the coming days on the overall development of the public distribution system.<\/div>\n

In the review meeting, Additional Director Animesh Debvarma presented the detailed information of the department through power point presentation. He said, this department works in four departments: PDS, Civil Supply, Consumer Food and Legal Metrology. There are currently a total of 2048 fair price shops in the state. Of these, there are 290 fair price shops run by women. There are 9 lakh 59 thousand 769 ration card recipient families in the state. Total consumers are 37 lakh 23 thousand 401 people. He said that 3 lakh 55 thousand 439 families are APL ration card holders in the state. There are 4 lakh 92 thousand 485 priority house hold families. Antyodaya card holder families are 1 lakh 8946. 1,205 families have been given priority house hold ration cards under the Chief Minister’s Tea Workers Welfare Scheme. Moreover, it was informed in the review meeting that a total of 2899 Ryang (Blue) refugee families have been given Antyoday ration cards in the state so far. One Nation One Ration Card is in operation in the state. With PDS, ICDS and mid-day meal, the state has a monthly foodgrain demand of 22,000 MT. The monthly sugar demand is 960 metric tons. Besides, there is a demand of 3174 metric tons of flour, 950 metric tons of lentils, 1850 metric tons of salt and 1700 kilo liters of kerosene.<\/div>\n
It was informed in the review meeting that there are 48 places in the state to purchase paddy at subsidized prices has So far 1.71 lakh MT of paddy has been procured in the state. In this, 327 crore rupees have been given in the bank account of the farmers. Supply of fortified rice in Dhalai district under PDS system has started from April 2022. From April 2023, the remaining 7 districts of the state will also be provided with fortified rice under the PDS system. 4 Consumer Courts have been constituted in West District, Dhalai District, Gomti District and Unkoti District. Initiatives have been taken to form the remaining 4 districts. Vigilance committee has been formed at every block, subdivision and district level. If consumers have complaints, they can report the complaint to the department’s 1967 toll free number. He said that the National Food Safety Act is in force in the state. He said, Indian Oil Corporation Limited has taken the initiative to build 1 railway depot with a storage capacity of 21 thousand kiloliters at Sekerkot. In the review meeting, the Special Secretary of the Department of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs Ravel Hemendra Kumar called on the officials and employees at all levels of the department to deliver all the projects of this department to the people of the state.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
