The court announced the sentence of the accused in this sensational case on Saturday. The Hon&#8217;ble Court sentenced each to life imprisonment. Besides, the judge imposed a fine of 50 thousand rupees. He also ordered another three years in jail for non-payment of rupees 50,000 fine. The people of the state expressed confidence in the justice system only after the accused were convicted in the court on Friday. The accused own crores of rupees and are very influential. They could buy everything, but they couldn&#8217;t buy the justice system &#8211; so the court handed down harsh sentences to the convicts on Saturday. The court found them guilty under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The accused are former state police inspector Sukant Biswas, Kalika Jewellers&#8217; owner&#8217;s son Sumit Chowdhury, contractor Sumit Vanik and Omar Sharif alias Swaib Mia.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">On the night of August 3, 2019, Bodhisattwa Das, a bank manager, was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon at the city&#8217;s Junction Gate.
