Various programmes are being implemented in the state to make the state self-reliant in fisheries production. Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das said this while inaugurating Khokon Deb&#8217;s Fresh Water Finfish Hatchery at Barabil Panchayat in Khowai on 21 July, 2023. This hatchery has been constructed at a cost of 25 lakh rupees under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The Fisheries Minister urged to make themselves and others self-reliant by taking advantage of various schemes of the Central and State Governments.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Director of Fisheries Department Moslemuddin Ahmed spoke at the opening programme. Chairman of Khowai Zilla Parishad Joydeb Debbarma, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury. President of Work Standing Committee of Khowai Zilla Parishad Subrata Majumdar, Vice Chairman of Khowai Panchayat Samiti Tapas Das, Principal Secretary of Fisheries, Animal Resources Development and Scheduled Caste Welfare Department BS Mishra, Director of Animal Resources Development Department Dr. K Sasikumar, District Magistrate Dilip Kumar Chakma and others were present at the programme. On the same day, Fisheries Minister visited Bijoy Gope&#8217;s orchard and nursery at Ajgartila, Rabindra Das&#8217; pig farm at Ramchandraghat and Chebri Fishermen&#8217;s Cooperative Society&#8217;s reservoir. Before inaugurating the hatchery. Fisheries Minister visited Dashrath Deb Memorial College and planted trees there.
