2 days long state level Wa festival has started at Twikarma ILS school ground of Santirbazar sub-division. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik inaugurated the festival on 6 November, 2023. Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Mailafru Mog, MDC Kongjong Mog, MDC Sanjib Reang, Buddhist Bhikkhu Kshemasara Bhikkhu and others were present at the opening program.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik while inaugurating the state-level Wa festival, said that Wa festival is a traditional festival of the Mog community of the state. This festival is a gathering of people from different communities. He said that the government is working to develop the language and culture of the people of all tribal communities in the state.
Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said on the occasion that the government is working to develop the culture and language of every tribal community in the state. Secretary of Mog Social and Cultural Organization Dowang Mog spoke among others at the program, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhedananda Baidya gave the welcome address. MLA Mailafru Mog presided over the program. On the occasion of the festival, 10 departments of the state government, including 2 self-help groups, opened exhibition halls at the program. The festival was organized with the help of Information and Cultural Affairs.
