Alleging duplicity in distribution of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the villagers locked the panchayat. The incident took place in Mangalkali village panchayat under Yuvrajnagar Vidhan Sabha in Uttar district. A total of 85 houses have been allotted in this village under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Residents complain that 28 houses have been allotted to the village chief’s ward and 37 to the deputy chief’s ward. In the rest of the wards, only a few rooms are given by hand. Not only this, many genuine house recipients in the village are deprived of housing. Houses have been allotted in many old houses. The angry villagers protested by blocking the main road of the village by locking the panchayat office while keeping the employees in the office on Wednesday morning. The protest continued for a long time.
