Biplab Dev was selected by the BJP Central Election Committee as the candidate for Tripura’s only Rajya Sabha by-election. Central General Secretary Arun Singh informed this news through a press statement. It may be noted that Dr. Manik Saha resigned from the membership of the Rajya Sabha a few days ago as he was elected Chief Minister. It should be noted that this election is going to be held on September 22. Earlier Left Front nominated Bhanu Lal Saha as their candidate. Bhanu Lal Saha, who was defeated by Manik Saha, has been re-elected as the Left Front candidate.
