The Inspector General BSF – BGB Level Border Coordination Conference of Area Commanders from 07 December 2022 to 09 December 2022 concluded on Friday with the signing of the Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) document at Agartala, Tripura. A twelve member Indian delegation led by Sumit Sharan, IPS, Inspector General, BSF Frontier Tripura participated in the conference. The 13-member Bangladesh delegation was led by Tanveer Gani Chowdhury, Additional Director General, Regional Commander, Southeast Region BGB, Chittagong. During the conference, various issues of bilateral interest were discussed at length which would pave the way for enhanced understanding and enhanced cooperation between both the Border Guarding Forces. The three-day conference laid special emphasis on various cross-border crimes, including insurgent activities, narcotics/narcotics, border violations, pending infrastructure/developmental works and smuggling of contraband items such as Integrated Border Management Plan (CBMP). Besides the troops of BSF and BGB, issues of trust building between the local people of both sides were also discussed.
