With the announcement of general election to Tripura Assembly on January 18, the Standard Election Code of Conduct came into force in the state. Therefore, a Model Code of Conduct Screening Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to implement this Code of Conduct. The Members include Secretaries of MCC related departments, Industries and IT, Principal Secretary of Revenue Department, Special Secretary of Scheduled Caste Welfare Department and Industries Department and DGP/Chief Conservator of Forest. Any permission/clarification regarding MCC during the period of validity of the MCC will be examined by the concerned committee and sent by the CEO to the commission. Based on the guidelines on the Election Commission’s portal, the committee will look into such matters and send it to the CEO along with all the relevant information, if any matter is particularly urgent, it will also be mentioned with the reason, Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte informed this in a notification.
