Eight people, including BJP worker Tapan Kumar Bhowmik of Barajala assembly constituency, were seriously injured in an attack by CPM-affiliated miscreants after the election results were announced on March 2. Two of the accused have already been arrested by the police. On Monday, Tapan Kumar Bhowmik, who was seriously injured, died in GB Hospital. After his dead body was brought to the Gorkha Basti area, locals and BJP workers came together to block the road. Their demands are properly investigated by the police so that the culprits are arrested soon. The culprits are roaming in the open while the police are not taking any proper action. In protest against that, the local people blocked the road and demonstrated. Later, the blockade was lifted by the intervention of former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Jishnu Debbarma. However, there is tension in the area in this incident.
