Women and men have equal rights in building society. In our country there are women in many important positions who are running the country. They are shining the name of the country. But women have to fight more to improve their socio-economic status and get their rights. Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy said this while inaugurating the state-wide International Women’s Day program organized at Muktdhara Auditorium in Agartala today. This year the theme of International Women’s Day is Digital: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality. In the event, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy said that women and men have equal rights in building society. Women today are not only independent, but women are also leading the society. Today girl students are doing well in CBSE or UPSC. Women in the country are advancing day by day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many schemes undertaken by the state government have prioritized women. Earlier in our state only 9th class SC and ST girl students were given bicycles. After this government came, it was decided that all the girls of class IX will be given bicycles. Bicycles have been given to 19,000 girls in the last 5 years. He said, the society should be more aware to prevent domestic violence. Not only the government, but also various clubs, social organizations and NGOs should come forward.
Varnali Goswami, chairperson of Tripura Women’s Commission, the special guest on the occasion said that mothers are mother power. But women have to come forward in digital and technology. Apart from this, Sharmila Chowdhury, a member of Raja Shishu Suraksha Rikh Commission, Ankur Saha, a student of MBB College and Vidhidha Bhattacharya, also spoke. Social Welfare and Social Education Department Secretary Tapas Roy delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Agartala Pur Nigam Mayor Deepak Majumdar was present on the occasion.
Dabaru Arshia Das, who received the Gold Medal and Commemorative Award from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi in 2021, and Puhavi Chakraborty, who received the Gold Medal and Commemorative Award for Field of Innovation from this Ministry in 2022, presented these awards to Social Welfare and Social Education. Minister Tinku Roy. Besides, Minister Shri Roy handed over mementos and certificates to self-employed Swapna Debnath, Dudhulakshmi Debbarma, Savita Tripura, MBB College student Ankur Saha and student Bividha Bhattacharya. These two students gave speeches on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Meghbalika Bangla band artists performed music on the occasion.
