A man was seriously injured by a wild elephant attack. The incident took place on Tuesday late night in Champlai area under East Lakshmipur ADC Village. On that night, Arun Debbarma, a resident of Champlai area, was on his way home after finishing his personal work when a wild elephant attacked the area adjacent to the panchayat office of East Lakshmipur ADC Village. As a result of this attack, the person immediately fell to the ground. Later, the common people of the area witnessed the incident and quickly rescued the injured person and brought him to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital at night. He is currently undergoing treatment at Teliamura Hospital. On the other hand, late on Tuesday, a group of wild elephants attacked various surrounding areas, including Champlai area, ransacked several houses in the dark of night and destroyed various valuables including household furniture. An atmosphere of panic has been created in the area due to this incident. But the Teliamura Forest Department has not been able to do anything to protect the people from the rampage of elephants.
