A notification issued by the Home Department of the Government of Tripura has informed that the Crime Branch Police Station of the Tripura Police will now also function as the Anti-Narcotics Task Force Police Station. The entire state will be under this police station. A DSP will be in charge of this police station. According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, he will perform duties. The Crime Branch Police Station will investigate only those cases which require special technical expertise which cannot be investigated by a regular Police Station or in exceptional cases with the approval of the DGP. The Tripura Police Crime Branch or the Anti-Narcotics Task Force may register and investigate the case subject to the approval of the DGP based on the initial consideration of the criminal incident. The Crime Branch Police can also provide technical assistance in cases filed at any police station in Tripura. The Officer-in-Charge of the Crime Branch shall review all cases and investigations at least once in three months. This notification will come into effect from the date of publication in the official gazette.
