🚨🧧Awarness rally on World Optometry Day

Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences (TIPS), a joint venture with Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. A premier institution in Tripura and NE India, established in 2009, currently offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Allied Healthcare Sciences (Paramedical) and Nursing under Tripura Central University and Indian Nursing Council.
We all are familiar with the date 23 March which is celebrated as World Optometry Day. This is an opportunity to highlight the important role that eye care plays in addressing uncorrected refractive errors, a leading cause of visual impairment. They often miss out on educational and employment opportunities, lower productivity and erode quality of lifeGlobal estimates indicate that more than 2.3 billion people in the world suffer from poor vision due to refractive errors, of which 670 million people are considered visually impaired because they do not have access to corrective treatment.
In Optometry, we are testing in many ways such as comprehensive eye examination, pediatric eye care, geriatric eye care, treatment of various eye diseases and disorders.
This year World Optometry Day, 2023 will be addressed with a motto “Save Eyes, Save Society”
Department of Optometry, TIPS has been playing a vital role for the past many years thus embracing this significant day by organizing various awareness campaigns, walk-a-thons, health camps, seminars etc. thus promoting health among every segment of the population. at every stage of their lives.
This year also a series of programs are being organized by the Department of Optometry, TIPS to reach out to the public to promote the importance of proper eye care.
“Awareness Rally on Optometry” organized from ONGC Agartala on March 23 morning,
Gate no. 1 8:00 AM at TIPS Campus where representatives of ONGC, Tripura Assets and other dignitaries will inaugurate the rally.
This will be followed by a national level seminar at the TIPS campus in which state dignitaries such as Dr. Parul Deep Chakma, Glaucoma Specialist, AGMC, Dr. Abhijit Roy, Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, AGMC and representatives of LV Prasad I. Hospital, Hyderabad and Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, Chennai will participate in the event and enlighten the participants on various aspects of Optometry.
A mega health camp will also be organized next week by Optometry Tips Department at NGO Campus, Tripura Asset.
Our Optometry (BOPTM) passed out students are currently serving famous eye care brands like LV Prasad Eye Hospital, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Shankar Netralaya..many and abroad.
TIPS provides free OPD services in Optometry and Physiotherapy at its campus.
