Ashokastami festival will be celebrated in Unkoti on March 28 and 29. To make this event successful, a preparatory meeting was held yesterday in the conference hall of Unkoti District Magistrate’s office. The meeting was presided over by the District Magistrate of Unkoti district. Vishal Kumar Assistant Chairperson of Unkoti Zilla Parishad Shyamal Das, Chairperson of Kailashapur Parishad Chapla Debrai, Additional District Magistrate of Unkoti District Satyabrat Nath, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kailashahar Sub-Division Pradeep Sarkar and officials of various departments were present in the meeting. In the meeting, it was decided that on the occasion of Ashokashtami festival on March 28, an administrative camp will be organized by the administration of Kailasahar sub-district and a health camp will be organized by the health department at Shaivatirtha Unkoti. Besides, exhibition stalls will also be opened by various departments. An executive committee and 5 sub-committees have been formed with Unkoti Zilla Parishad president Amlendu Das as chairman to make Ashokashtami festival a success. Cultural programs will be organized throughout the night under the initiative of the Information and Culture Department.
