“Weekend tourist hub is a new feather in Tripura’s tourism sector. Such programmes based on tourist hubs can be seen in the developed states of the country. From today, the people of the state can also enjoy the pleasure of this weekend tourist hub every Saturday and Sunday”. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said this yesterday while inaugurating Weekend Tourist Hub in front of the main gate of Ujjayanta Palace. The Chief Minister also said that apart from daily work, people need entertainment for their minds. Such a Weekend Tourist Hub will be very useful for such entertainment. This Weekend Tourist Hub will be able to attract tourists as well. The Chief Minister said, every Saturday and Sunday cultural programmes will be organized at Weekend Tourist Hub, starting with the traditional culture of 19 tribal communities and emphasizing the tradition of Tripura’s royal family and palaces. As a result, the talent of artistes will develop. Along with entertainment, educational tourism is also emphasized through the Weekend Tourist hub.
At the programme, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the people of Tripura love tourism. This Weekend Tourist Hub is being launched in recognition for the love of tourism for the people of Tripura. The state government has selected this place as Weekend Tourist Hub as respect to the royal family and the palace. Through this tourist hub, job opportunities will also be created for the unemployed youth.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder said at the programme, the
present state government is very sincere in promoting tourism. Welcome speech was given by
Secretary of Tourism Department UK Chakma. Chief Secretary J.K Sinha also spoke on the
occasion. Director of Tourism Department Tapan Das gave vote of thanks. West Tripura
District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan, Superintendent of Police of West Tripura Dr. Kiran
Kumar K and others were also present on the occasion.
