All developmental projects must be undertaken with a sense of responsibility, integrity, and completed within the stipulated timeframe stated Fisheries Minister Sudhanshu Das while presiding over a district-level review meeting held yesterday at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s Office in West Tripura. The meeting focused on the development programs of the Fisheries, Animal Resources Development, and Scheduled Castes Welfare Departments in the district.
The Minister instructed officials of the Fisheries Department to identify and reclaim abandoned water bodies for the purpose of fish farming. He advised departmental officials to collaborate with local public representatives from each block to design and implement welfare-oriented projects effectively. He also emphasized the need to complete all pending works from the previous financial year while promptly implementing the projects planned for the current fiscal year. The review meeting was attended by MLAs Mina Rani Sarkar and Antara Sarkar Deb, acting Sabhadhipati of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad Biswajit Shil, and West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar. Chairpersons of different Panchayat Samitis, directors and officials from the Fisheries, Animal Resources Development, and SC Welfare Departments, as well as BDOs from different blocks were also present. During the meeting, officials from the three departments presented reports on the development programs implemented in the previous year and discussed the implementation strategies for the current year’s projects. The official from the Animal Resources Development Department shared that in the last financial year, 100% of the programs involving poultry farming, ducks, goats, and cows husbandry were successfully implemented. Support is currently being provided to the selected beneficiaries under these projects for the ongoing financial year as well. Additionally, from April 2025 to date, a total of 2,37,980 animals and birds have received veterinary treatment and medicines in the district. The official from the Scheduled Castes Welfare Department also provided detailed information on the implementation of various developmental schemes.
