আগরতলা : প্রতিবছরের মতো এবারও পহেলা এপ্রিল থেকে শুরু হওয়ার কথা চৈত্র হাট। সাধারণত ১ এপ্রিল থেকে ১৪ এপ্রিল পর্যন্ত শহরের শকুন্তলা রোড এলাকায় এই হাট বসে। তবে এবছর সেই চেনা ছবিতে বড় পরিবর্তনের ইঙ্গিত মিলছে।
বিশ্বস্ত সূত্রের খবর, শহরের যানজট সমস্যাকে মাথায় রেখে এবছর রাস্তার উপর চৈত্র হাট বসানোর অনুমতি নাও দেওয়া হতে পারে। পরিবর্তে, পৌর নিগমের উদ্যোগে হাটটি শিশু উদ্যানে স্থানান্তরের পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছে।
পুর নিগম সূত্রে জানা গেছে, শিশু উদ্যানে প্রায় ১৫ দিনের জন্য অস্থায়ীভাবে ব্যবসায়ীদের বসার ব্যবস্থা করা হবে। প্রায় ৩০০টি দোকান তৈরির পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে। ইতিমধ্যেই “আগে আসলে আগে পাবে” ভিত্তিতে ফর্ম বিতরণ শুরু হয়েছে। ফর্ম সংগ্রহের আশায় কয়েকদিন ধরেই বহু ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসায়ী পুর নিগম দফতরের সামনে অপেক্ষা করছেন।
উল্লেখ্য, প্রতিবছর শকুন্তলা রোডে চৈত্র হাট বসার ফলে ব্যাপক যানজট সৃষ্টি হয় এবং সাধারণ মানুষের চলাচলে সমস্যা দেখা দেয়। সেই অভিজ্ঞতা থেকেই এবছর বিকল্প স্থানের চিন্তাভাবনা করা হয়েছে বলে জানা যাচ্ছে।
এদিকে, শহরকে যানজটমুক্ত রাখতে পুর নিগম ইতিমধ্যেই বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে। ফুটপাত দখলমুক্ত করা, রাস্তার পাশে অবৈধ পার্কিংয়ের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযান এবং ট্রাফিক বিভাগের সঙ্গে যৌথ উদ্যোগে নজরদারি বাড়ানো হয়েছে। তবে অভিযোগ রয়েছে, অভিযান শেষ হলেই অনেক ক্ষেত্রে ফের আগের অবস্থায় ফিরে যাচ্ছে পরিস্থিতি।
এখন দেখার বিষয়, পহেলা বৈশাখকে ঘিরে এই চৈত্র হাট চলাকালীন শহরের যানজট নিয়ন্ত্রণে রাখতে পুর নিগম কতটা সফল হয় এবং শিশু উদ্যানে হাট স্থানান্তরের সিদ্ধান্ত শেষ পর্যন্ত বাস্তবায়িত হয় কি না।
Will the Chaitra Haat in Agartala Be Held at Shishu Udyan This Year?
As in previous years, the Chaitra Haat in Agartala is expected to begin on April 1. Traditionally, the fair runs from April 1 to April 14 and is held along the Shakuntala Road area in the city. However, this year there are indications of a significant change to that familiar setup.
According to reliable sources, keeping in mind the city’s traffic congestion issues, permission may not be granted to hold the fair on the roadside this time. Instead, the municipal corporation is planning to shift the Chaitra Haat to Shishu Udyan.
Sources from the municipal body reveal that temporary arrangements will be made at Shishu Udyan to accommodate traders for about 15 days. There are plans to set up around 300 stalls. Form distribution has already begun on a “first come, first served” basis, and for the past few days, many small traders have been waiting outside the municipal office to collect them.
It is worth noting that every year the Chaitra Haat on Shakuntala Road leads to severe traffic congestion, causing inconvenience for the general public. Based on that experience, authorities are considering an alternative location this year.
Meanwhile, the municipal corporation has already taken several steps to reduce traffic congestion in the city. These include clearing footpath encroachments, taking action against illegal roadside parking, and increasing surveillance in coordination with the traffic department. However, there are complaints that in many cases, the situation returns to its previous state once the drives end.
Now it remains to be seen how successful the municipal corporation will be in controlling traffic during the Chaitra Haat around Pohela Boishakh, and whether the decision to shift the fair to Shishu Udyan will ultimately be implemented.
