6 waste collection vehicles have been added to West Tripura district.

Agartala, Wednesday:
Six new waste collection vehicles have been added in West Tripura district to strengthen waste management and sanitation services.

The vehicles were flagged off on Wednesday at the DM and Collector office premises in Agartala by the Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad, Bishwajit Shil. The programme was attended by the District Magistrate of West Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, Assistant District Magistrate Arup Deb and other administrative officials.

According to officials, each vehicle has been purchased at a cost of around ₹11 lakh. Earlier, three such vehicles had already been provided to different blocks, and six more were added in this phase. More vehicles are expected to be procured in the future to strengthen cleanliness initiatives.

These vehicles will mainly be used in markets and various block areas of the district to improve cleanliness and waste management.

Speaking at the programme, Sabhadhipati Bishwajit Shil said the initiative would play an important role in achieving the goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the vision of a clean Tripura under Chief Minister Manik Saha. He added that since the vehicles are electric, they will help save fuel and reduce environmental pollution.

District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar also emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and urged people to cooperate with the administration to make West Tripura cleaner and more beautiful.
