Agartala, June 4: Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday asserted that the Left Front would continue its political struggle regardless of its electoral strength, stating that it would never leave the political battlefield even if its number of seats were reduced to zero.
Speaking to reporters after visiting a voluntary blood donation camp organized on the occasion of the 33rd Foundation Day of the Tripura Autorickshaw Workers’ Union at the CITU State Office, Sarkar said that even if the Left Front’s representation in the Assembly is brought down to zero through political pressure or other means, the alliance will continue its movement and struggle in the interest of the people. His remarks came in response to a recent statement by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who had claimed that the BJP would capture the remaining seats held by the Left Front in the next Assembly election.Referring to the recent Nagerjala incident, Sarkar also questioned the BJP’s electoral practices. Citing a statement allegedly made by an injured worker, he claimed that the remarks of BJP workers themselves reveal how the party secures electoral victories. The blood donation camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from workers and supporters. Organizers stated that such welfare-oriented programmes are conducted every year as part of the union’s social responsibility initiatives. The camp concluded successfully with the active participation of voluntary blood donors.
