Sit-and-Draw Competition Held at Sukanta Academy Ahead of World Environment Day

 

Agartala, June 4: World Environment Day will be observed tomorrow under the theme, “Inspired by Nature. For the Climate. For Our Future.” To mark the occasion, the Tripura State Pollution Control Board organized a sit-and-draw competition at Sukanta Academy in Agartala.

Around 250 to 260 participants took part in the competition across three categories. The young artists expressed various environmental concerns and messages through their drawings, highlighting issues related to nature conservation and sustainable living. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and a vibrant atmosphere among the contestants.

The primary objective of World Environment Day is to raise public awareness about environmental protection and conservation. The observance encourages people to adopt environmentally responsible lifestyles and take action against global challenges such as climate change, plastic pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss.

World Environment Day is celebrated worldwide under the initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), promoting collective efforts to safeguard the planet for future generations.
