Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha yesterday reviewed the present situation of law and order in the state along with the state’s Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Police Officers. Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and other senior officers were present in this meeting held at the State Police Head Office yesterday. In the meeting, the Chief Minister gave necessary advice to maintain law and order in the state.
After the review meeting, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha told reporters that the
opposition political parties are complaining that law and order has deteriorated in the state.
But that’s not right. Law and order situation in the state has improved a lot since 2018. The Chief Minister told reporters that during the review, the Superintendents of Police, Additional Superintendents of Police and Sub-Divisional Police Officers of different districts of the state reported various problems. The government will consider these issues. If necessary the government will talk to the central government. Necessary steps will be taken to strengthen
Tripura Police.
The Chief Minister said that the law and order situation in the state is now much better which has emerged from the review meeting. With the statistics, he said, crime related incidents have decreased in several areas. Specifically, the state’s crime rate was the fifth lowest in the nation in 2021 survey conducted by National Crime Records Bureau. This is possible only because of the hard work of the police forces. The chief minister said that police officials have been instructed to ensure that law and order does not deteriorate in the state under any circumstances. Tripura assembly election is coming soon. Disruption of law and order will not be tolerated. Deterioration of law and order will hamper development.
