The 14-day long handloom and textile fair has been started from yesterday at the ground of Khowai Government Class XII School. Balai Goswami, chairman of Tripura Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation, inaugurated the fair. This fair has been organized by the Department of Handicrafts, Handicrafts and Silk Industry. Balai Goswami, chairman of the corporation, inaugurated the fair and said that the government has given priority to the development of handloom industry in order to create employment opportunities. Chairman of Khoai Zilla Parishad Joydev Debvarma, Chairperson of Khoai Pur Parishad Debashis Nath Sharma, Vice Chairperson of Tripura Women’s Commission Asmita Vanik, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Working Affairs of Khoai Zilla Parishad Subrata Majumdar and others were present at the inauguration ceremony. Director of the Department Sanjay Chakraborty gave the welcome speech. Vijay Kumar Debnath, president of Milon Tantubaya Cooperative Society presided. 53 stalls have been opened in handloom and handicraft fair.
