The two-day long 27th conference of the Director General of Police and IGs of the Eastern Region has begun. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated the conference this morning. State Chief Secretary JK Sinha, State Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan besides Director General of Police of all states of North East India, IG, IB Agency of Central Government, Narcotic Control Bureau and other senior officials of various levels attended the inauguration of the conference was present.
After inaugurating the conference, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha told reporters that drugs are being smuggled into North Eastern states through Myanmar. Drugs are also entering Tripura from different states and outside the country. Central government is working on zero tolerance policy against drugs. Tripura along with all the states in the North Eastern region is also conducting a campaign against drugs.
