An exchange meeting was held today at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan with Durga Puja entrepreneurs of Agartala AMC area. Officials of various clubs, market and puja committee representatives were present in this meeting organized under the initiative of AMC. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha was present as the chief guest in the exchange meeting. Speaking, the Chief Minister said that Durga Puja is a festival of goodwill. It creates a sense of brotherhood and solidarity among people. This festival should not be tarnished with unnecessary donations. Law will take its own course if there is a charge of subscription against any club or puja authority. The Chief Minister said that the government has been trying to build a self-reliant Tripura from the very beginning. But in the case of big budget pujas, artists from outside the state are given opportunities for idols, pandals, lighting etc. In this case, if the artists and workers of the state can work, the money of the state will remain in the state. The chief minister requested the puja organizers to take decisions with a positive attitude in this regard. In the meeting, the Chief Minister also asked the puja organizers present to discuss in their respective clubs the issues that were discussed in the exchange meeting and the decisions that were taken. He also said that in the past there was chaos around Durga Puja. Due to proper maintenance of law and order during the present government, it has been possible to get out of that situation. The chief minister called for complete ban on intoxicants in this year’s puja. The Chief Minister requested all the clubs to work together for permitted use of electricity during puja, adequate volunteers, healthy competition between clubs.
In the discussion at the meeting, Minister of Information and Culture Sushant Chowdhury called upon all the club authorities present to participate in the mother’s journey program organized for the first time officially on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami. He said that initially this program will be held on October 7. On this occasion, from Post Office Chaumuhani to Paradise Chaumuhani, through Melermath to Dasmighat, a colorful rally will be held with the Durga idols of various clubs. In the meeting, Agartala Purnigam Mayor Deepak Majumdar discussed various steps taken by the Purnigam on the occasion of upcoming Durga Puja. He said that arrangements have been made in the zonal offices so that there is no difficulty in getting permission from the club authorities to perform worship.
AMC is working to present the new city of Agartala to the visitors this year. A separate package of about 5 crore rupees has been taken up for the beautification of the city. On the occasion of Puja, 6 important streets of the city are decorated with tricolor lighting, road repairs, increasing the size of idol worshiping place at Dasmighat and permanent flood lights are being arranged. Also there will be trolleys, cranes etc. for disposal at Dashmighat. Efforts will be made to complete the idol cleaning program by midnight. In the meeting, DIG GK Rao said that 904 applications for puja have been submitted in West Tripura so far this year. This number is about two and a half thousand in the entire state. In addition to security forces, around 1500 members of TSR, Scouts and Guides, NCC will be there to maintain law and order. There will be no entry from 5 pm to 12 midnight. For this, there will be 10 drop gates at the entrance to Agartala city.
Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary of Electricity Department Brijesh Pandey, Municipal Commissioner and West Tripura District Magistrate Debpriya Vardhan, Club Forum President Pranab Sarkar also spoke in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, SP Shankar Debnath, Zonal Chairman of Agartala Purnigam along with Purparishads. Representatives of Jewels Association, Ramnagar Sporting Club, Jayanagar JPC, Shantikami Sangh, Sri Aurobindo Sangh participated in today’s exchange meeting.
