Agartala, June 16: The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress on Tuesday submitted a formal complaint to the Deputy Inspector General of the CRPF at the force’s headquarters in Salbagan, alleging that CRPF officer Ramkumar used excessive force, abusive language, and behaved improperly with protesters during a Youth Congress demonstration held on June 15.It may be noted that the Youth Congress has already filed a case against the officer at West Agartala Police Station in connection with the incident.

According to the complaint, the Youth Congress had organized a protest on June 15 over the alleged leakage of the NEET-2026 examination question paper. The rally began from Congress Bhavan in Agartala and proceeded towards RMS Chowmuhani, where it was stopped by police barricades.
The Youth Congress alleged that while protesters were peacefully raising slogans, CRPF officer Ramkumar and his associates carried out a lathi-charge on demonstrators without any instruction from the Tripura Police.
The organization claimed that at least seven party workers sustained serious injuries during the incident. According to the complaint, several protesters suffered head injuries and bleeding, while one individual reportedly sustained a fractured arm.
The complaint further alleged that the officer used objectionable and abusive language against the demonstrators and also misbehaved with members of the media present at the scene.
Youth Congress leaders described the incident as a violation of human rights and the democratic rights guaranteed under the Constitution. They have urged the CRPF DIG to conduct a fair and impartial inquiry into the matter and to take appropriate administrative action against the officer concerned.
Speaking on the issue, Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, and Youth Congress President Neelkamal Saha all demanded a thorough investigation and disciplinary action against the accused CRPF officer.
