The three-day long traditional Niramhal Jal Utsav has started from today at Rajghat Muktamanch in Melaghar. The festival will continue till September 11. MLA Subhash Das inaugurated the festival by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural address, he discussed the main objective of this water festival. He said that the government is taking various initiatives in renovating Rudrasagar and Niramhal. In order to attract tourists from the country and abroad, various programs have been taken through the Department of Tourism. In order to implement these programs, he sought the full cooperation of people from all sections.
Joint Director of Tourism Department Dilip Debbarma and Tripura Haj Committee Chairman Jaseem Uddin spoke among other guests at the opening ceremony. Subhashis Bandyopadhyay, Additional District Magistrate of Sipahijla district delivered the welcome speech. Pavitra Kumar Das, President of Rudrasagar Refugee Fishermen’s Cooperative Society gave a vote of thanks. The opening music was performed by local artists.
Philanthropist Debrata Bhattacharya and Philanthropist Biswajit were other guests on the occasion.
