Minister of Forest and Revenue Department Narendra Chandra Debbarma passed away. He was 89 years old at the time of his death. He was under treatment at GB Hospital due to heart attack. He is the current IPFT president and former director of All India Radio, Agartala. In the 2018 state elections, the IPFT party under his leadership captured 8 assembly seats out of 9. And formed the government with alliance partner BJP. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma, Information Culture Minister Sushant Chowdhury, Union Minister Pratima Bhowmick, former Chief Minister MP Biplab Kumar Deb and others have expressed deep grief over his death. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha along with other Union Ministers of State paid their last respects to him at the hospital. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha referred to him as the leader of the tribe and non tribe. On his death, the state government declared a one-day public holiday and three days of state mourning. Today his body will be kept at Adviser Chaumuhan house in Agartala. Tomorrow morning his body will be taken to assembly and then to the secretariat. Later, he will be cremated at the house in Maharani Teliamura.
